The Royal Villas Lodging

The U.S. Embassy in Mbabane has restricted Embassy employees from staying at The Royal Villas in Ezulwini Valley until further notice.  The Embassy recommends that American citizens in Swaziland also avoid lodging at The Royal Villas.
 
The Embassy considers lodging at the Villas to be unsafe due to several serious security-related incidents in the last two months.  Embassy security personnel are in contact with the management of the Royal Villas regarding the ongoing investigation of the incidents and proposed security upgrades.  Uses of the Villa restaurants or conference facilities remain acceptable.
 
The Embassy security office is working with Royal Villas’ management to recommend security improvements.  If, and when, these improvements are completed the Embassy will reassess this recommendation and advice American citizens accordingly.
