More than 1, 700 universities and other institutions offer degree programs in the United States of America. This vast choice means there are programs available to meet everyone's needs. Here are three reasons why more and more international students from around the world are furthering their education in the United States:
Quality: U.S. universities offer quality programs, faculty, facilities and resources.
Choice: The U.S. education system offers an unrivalled choice of institutions, academic and social environments, entry requirements, degree programs, and subjects in which students can specialize.
Value: A wide range of tuition fees and living costs, plus financial assistant from various departments within universities, have made study in the United States affordable for thousands of international students.
Standardized Admission Tests:
Most U.S. colleges, universities and graduate programs will require that students take one or more standardized admissions tests. Admission tests like the SAT and GRE are intended to provide a common measure for comparing the developed abilities of students who come from a variety of educational institutions with defferent standards. Scores from these tests will be used along with college applications, essays, interviews, references, transcripts of students' grades, work experience and other information submitted for consideration.
For undergraduate admissions, required tests usually include:
· SAT
· TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
For graduate and professional admissions, required tests usually include:
· Graduate Record Examination (GRE -- for liberal arts, science, math)
· Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT -- for business schools/MBA)
